Our first Spanish home and we need several repairs. How do we avoid being ripped off?

Ask neighbours and your community administrator. Get at least two or three written quotes (presupuestos), check the trader is registered and insured, and agree stage payments. Avoid paying everything upfront in cash.

A good tradesperson will explain the problem and be happy to put it in writing.
