How bad is the heat in July and August?

We'll be here for our first summer. How do people cope when it gets properly hot?

It can be very hot, especially inland, and some nights stay warm. Locals do outdoor things early or late, keep shutters closed during the day, and rest in the middle of the afternoon. The sea breeze helps on the coast.

Drink lots of water, avoid midday sun, and check that your air conditioning works before July.
